In 1932-33, Klara Zetkin, suffering from the heart problems that would soon lead to her death, required doses of camphor to raise her blood pressure. On one occasion, as the medical personnel prepared to inject this stimulant into her left buttock, Zetkin told them to find another site: "That one," she explained, "belongs to Doctor Zamkov."
In a society in which the ownership of property did not convey the same status as in the capitalist west, ownership of the left (or even the right) buttock of one of the most prominent figures in the history of the World Communist movement may have been the equivalent of quite a few liquid or immovable assets.
