This “Critical Discussion Forum on Race and Bias” responds to the shock of the murder by police of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25, 2020, coming on the heels of that of Breonna Taylor on March 13 in Louisville, and to the Black Lives Matter protests that erupted across the country and the world in the months that followed. How can we, in our roles as scholars and teachers, respond meaningfully to the urgent call for racial justice for Black Americans? Specifically, how can we do this from our positions in the Slavic field, which, as a contributor to this forum writes, is “an overwhelmingly white field” focused on “a region with tangential relevance to the Black experience”?

She proceeded to tell the Black couple how racist her family was and spent the entire evening recounting every uncensored racist joke, story, and comment she could remember them making, despite her dinner companions' growing discomfort.»

Но она об этой дури целую новую книгу написала(“nice racism”). И, как ни странно, кое-где дело говорит:
a startling claim: White progressives can cause the most daily harm to people of color. ... undermine Black people daily in ways both harder to identify and easier to deny,"
White progressives try to "out-woke" one another and why anti-racist education can sometimes create more "efficient "racists.
What I am clear about more than ever as a result of this last year is that absolutely no one can always get it right on race.

Date: 2021-11-18 10:09 pm (UTC)Естественно, всем этим саидам не приходит в голову простейшая мысль: если вы объявляете, что высказывания "чужих" на близкие вам темы по определению ошибочны, именно по той причине, что они "чужие", то почему мы должны доверять ВАШИМ суждениям про этих "чужих" и про их высказывания, раз ведь вы сами такой же точно "чужой" по отношению к ним?
