On 29 August 2008 Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Georgia A. Smaga was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Director Ir. Toronjadze of the Department of Russia of the Georgian MFA passed to the Russian Envoy a Note indicating that as of 8 September 2008 citizens of Russia will be able to obtain entry visas to Georgia only at Georgia’s diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad. At the same time, entry visas to Georgia will be issued exclusively on the basis of original copies of invitations extended to those citizens of the Russian Federation planning to arrive in Georgia in order to meet with members of their families, for humanitarian purposes or for official (business) trips. 

Russian Citizens can get detailed information on Georgian entry visas at Georgia’s diplomatic missions and consular offices abroad.

Question: What is Armenia's position on the  recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia independence.

Answer: Armenia has always favored and continues to believe that any attempt for military solution to conflicts is futile. Such conflicts should be resolved on the basis of free expression of the will of the people.
