The Washington DC Metro CURRENTLY has a fleet of 766 cars, which were delivered in four separate shipments. There are two manufacturers: Rohr Industries of San Diego, CA and Breda Construzioni Ferroviarie Sp.A of Italy. The first shipment consisted of 300 Rohr-built cars, there were three additional shipments of Breda-built cars in 1982, 1986 and 1991. An additional shipment of 192 cars is being built by CAF Industries of Spain and are scheduled to be delivered beginning in 2001.
