Я, кстати, совсем недавно прочитал книжку Берлински про Маргарет Тэтчер. Хорошая.

Не очень понятно, в чём состоит спор. Может быть, мне знаний языка не хватает, но все эти позиции были в 1989-1991 гг. высказаны публично. Что Тэтчер о единой Германии, что Буш о независимой Украине...

Спор, скорее, идет не об истории, а о месте тех или иных персонажей и институций в исторической науке. Профессиональные историки изо всех сил доказывают, что если некие документы доступны им, то этого уже достаточно, а доступность широким массам публики как бы и не играет никакой роли. Этакий сословный подход, отрицающий ценность знания, если оно не освящено соответствующими титулами и ритуалами. Их оппоненты с этим абсурдным подходом не согласны, но и сами допускают серьезную ошибку, чрезмерно сенсационализируя те документы, которые предлагают широкой публике.

Кроме того, удивляет, почему Строилов свои документы не выкладывает онлайн, как это сделал Буковский.
